US raises Russia’s 2020–2021 wheat export forecast to 39.5 mln tns

MOSCOW, Apr 12 (PRIME) -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture has raised its forecast for Russia’s wheat exports in the 2020–2021 agricultural year, lasting from July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021, to 39.5 million tonnes from 39 million tonnes, as seen by PRIME in the authority’s report released late on April 9.

The current export forecast means that in the 2020–2021 agricultural year, Russia can regain its world leadership in wheat exports, which the country lost to the E.U. at the end of the 2019–2020 agricultural year. The authority estimates that the wheat exports from the E.U. amounted to 38.429 million tonnes last season, and from Russia to 34.485 million tonnes.

This season supplies from the E.U. may amount to 27 million tonnes, it said.

The Agriculture Ministry expects Russia’s grain exports at 45 million tonnes in the 2020–2021 agricultural year, including 35 million tonnes of wheat.
